- GCR enamel Poster Board Header "GREAT CENTRAL", the white wording displayed on a blue silhouette of one of the company's 4-6-0 passenger locomotives, possibly a B8 Class. Overall 27½"x5" with minor chips around the screw holes. £
- Cast iron Coach Plate "Shropshire And Montgomeryshire Rly, Shrewsbury", removed from one of the company's six wheel brake thirds scrapped in 1952. Rectangular, 10"x6", with original silver grey on blue paintwork. £
- LB&SCR glass publicity Paperweight "London Brighton & South Coast Railway, The Southern Belle Limited Pullman, The Last Word In Luxurious Travel, Victoria - Brighton In 60 Minutes Each Way, Weekdays And Sundays", 4¼"x3", the wording engraved on a recessed base. £
- BR(S) Totem "SHERBORNE", dark green (f/f). Good colour and shine with two edge chips and three face chips neatly restored. £
- Great Central Railway signal box Nameboard "HELMDON", from the Woodford to Brackley Central section of the company's London extension. Wood with cast letters and beading, 54¼"x9½", original maroon paintwork. £
- Single Line Key Token "Strathyre - Glenoglehead" (brass), from the Callander and Oban route east of Crianlarich. £
- Shedplate "86E" (Severn Tunnel Junction 1949 to June 1968). Front repainted, the back lightly cleaned and marked "Ex 6140". £
- Carriage Print "Dereham, Norfolk" from a water colour by J. Fletcher Watson. Some discolouration visible on the white border. £
- BR(E) enamel Station Direction Sign "British Railways New Barnet Station" (totem - with feathered arrow below), dark blue (f/f). Good colour and shine with a couple of edge chips. £
- BR(W) Totem "FILTON JUNCTION", chocolate and cream (f/f). Good colour and reasonable shine, slight mottling. £
- Railway Letter Cancellation Stamp "BRACKLEY STATION, G.C.Ry", from Brackley Central station on the company's London extension. The stamp has an oval brass head, 1¼"x1", with a turned wooden handle. Overall 3¾" high. £
- Worksplate "The Hunslet Engine Co Ltd, Leeds, No 2253-1940", from a 0-4-0DM which went ex Works in July 1941 to The Ministry of Defence, Royal Naval Armament Depot at Dean Hill where it was numbered "Yard No 88". In about 1965 it went to Pollock Brown & Co Ltd, Northam and by June 1971 to Docks Haulage & Co, Southampton. Cast brass oval, 8"x5", the front repainted. £
- Shedplate "54D" (Consett 1949 to September 1958). The front repainted, the back in fine original condition. £
- BR(M) Totem "BRYN", maroon (f/f). Face mounting variety, with good colour and shine, minor chipping around the fixing holes and a bit of rust on the black flange repainted. £
- North Eastern Railway enamel Doorplate "LAMP ROOM", reddish brown letters and thin border on cream, with black edge. Good colour and good shine, a chip at the right end screw hole. The standard size with shaped ends. £
- GWR quad royal Poster "100 Years Of Progress, 1835-1935" by Murray Secretan, (No 75), produced in 1934 for the company's centenary. Rolled with folds, two splits at right side folds. £
- Industrial Locomotive Nameplate "MAUD" from an 0-4-0ST (Peckett 1937/1938) supplied new to The Oxfordshire Ironstone Co at Wroxton near Banbury where it was named. It worked at Wroxton until dieselization in 1964/5 and was scrapped by George Cohen, Cransley, Northants in September 1965. The nameplates were fitted to the recently acquired 0-4-0DH built by Sentinel, Works No 10142, in December 1962 which worked at Wroxton until the OIC closed in September 1967 when it was transferred to Stewarts & Lloyds Minerals Ltd at Market Overton Quarry. It worked at several other quarries in the East Midlands before moving to Panteg Works, Monmouthshire in October 1973. In April 1989 it was acquired for preservation at the Dean Forest Railway where it is no longer in use but stored in a siding awaiting its turn for overhaul. The plate is face restored with the background painted in the maroon adopted by the OIC for its locos, the back untouched. Cast brass, 20¾"x6¾". £
- Great Western Railway brass signal box Shelf Plate "GRAFTON SOUTH JCT", from the Midland and South Western Junction Railway's Cheltenham to Andover route. 4¾"x1½". £
- Single Line Key Token "Rannoch - Corrour" (brass), from the North British Railway's West Highland Line to Fort William. £
- Southern Railway Sykes three-position double line Block Instrument, with an enamel plate "PORTSLADE", complete with commutator, brass slide, Up and Down Line enamel plates and the Down Line indicator mounted above the case. Additionally a Sykes brass maker's plate is attached on the front of the case. £
- Southern Railway signal box Block Bell from Portslade signal box. Overall 13½x9½" with a 4" diameter brass bell mounted above the case. £
- BR(W) Totem "PONTYPOOL ROAD", chocolate and cream (f/f). Good colour and shine, a little rusting on the edge of the black flange neatly repainted. £
- London and South Western Railway drawing office Magnifying Glass, with powerful oval lens within polished metal surround and silvered handle. £
- Worksplate "North British Locomotive Company, Glasgow No 26095 1947", from a LNER B1 Class 4-6-0 built in May 1947, LNER No 1194, becoming BR 61194. A long-time Mexborough loco, it moved late on to Canklow, New England and Colwick from where it was withdrawn in August 1965. It was then taken into Departmental Stock, becoming Departmental No 28, and used as a stationery boiler for carriage heating at Stratford. Condemned in June 1966 and cut up at Kings, Norwich. Cast white brass diamond, 13½"x5½". £
- North Eastern Railway brass Key Tag "Key For Wooler South Gate, To Be Returned To Stn", 4½x1½" with a 1¼" brass ring and key attached. £
- Signal Box Diagram "CHISLEDON", from the Midland and South Western Junction Railway's Cheltenham to Andover route situated between Swindon Town and Marlborough. A coloured copy in its original frame dated 16/11/1942. Overall 54"x19½". £
- "C.I.E." titled enamel dual language Gate Notice, referring to the closing of crossing gates and a 40/- fine for omitting to do so, "M.J.Hayes (Secretary)". White on black, 19"x13½". Good colour and shine with just a couple of tiny blemishes and the odd edge chip. £
- Great Western Railway pre-group cast iron Notice "Passengers Are Requested To Cross The Line By The Bridge", 43½"x18", unrestored with original paintwork. £
- Tyers No. 1 Single Line Tablet "Queensferry Junc - Dalmeny Jct" (brass/steel). This section crosses the Forth Bridge, where tablet apparatus was provided for use during times of engineering work enabling either the Up or Down line to be operated as an independent single line. £
- Smokebox Numberplate "73027", from a BR Standard Class 5MT 4-6-0 built at Derby and allocated new in December 1951 to Blackpool where it spent most of working life before moving briefly to the Western Region, first at St Philips Marsh and then Swindon from where it was withdrawn in February 1964. It was cut up at the nearby Works two months later. The front unrestored with original paintwork, the back repainted long ago, a neat repair at the left bolt hole. £
- "LNER HOTELS" blue Wedgwood Cream Jug with a graduated body and classical decoration to the sides in white, 2¼" high. £
- Shedplate "81A" (Old Oak Common 1949 to May 1973). The front repainted over the original paintwork, the back in original condition. £
- BR(S) Totem "BOGNOR REGIS", dark green (f/f). Good colour and shine, with minor chips on the edge of the white flange touched in. £
- Original BR Works Pattern for the casting of a diesel locomotive badge which was displayed above the nameplates on the BR Class 45 1Co-Co1 diesel electric No D71 "The Staffordshire Regiment (The Prince Of Wales's)" built by BR Crewe in November 1960. 12¾" diameter, featuring the Staffordshire knot, Prince of Wales feathers and crown. Hand carved in wood and mounted on a brown resin plate, the motto "ICH DIEN" in metal lettering. £
- BR(NE) Fingerboard "WHITBY STOPPING TRAIN", tangerine painted wood, double sided, with steel bracket and two mounting bars. Used at Middlesborough station for the service via Staithes and the coast line. Overall 32½"x8". £
- BR(E) dark blue enamel Notice "British Transport Commission, No Admission, Except On Business, Trespassers Will Be Prosecuted". In original wooden frame with beading. Overall 10½"x16½", minor edge chips. £
- Carriage Print "Laxfield, Near Halesworth Suffolk", from a water colour by F.W.Baldwin. £
- Single Line Key Token "Shapwick - Highbridge East C" (alloy), from the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway's Evercreech Junction to Burnham on Sea route. £
- Locomotive brass cased Cab Gauge, indicating 0-200, with a red arrow at 120lbs psi. The engraved face reads "GWR, Pressure Required, 8 Coaches or Less 60, 9 Coaches or More 70 to 80". £
- Great Western Railway silver-plated Cake Stand "GWR Refreshment Department", displaying the company's 2" diameter belted garter at the top centre. The stand is 7" high, 11¾" diameter, with a central collared pillar and heavy base. £
- BR(Sc) Totem "LONMAY", light blue (h/f), from the Great North of Scotland Railway's Aberdeen to Fraserburgh branch. Good colour, slight loss of shine and minimal chips on the very edge of the flange neatly repainted. £
- Brass Wagon Plate "Railway Staff Please Note. If This Vehicle Is Stopped For Repairs Advise Destination Station By Telegram-Express Dairy Co Ltd", from one of the traditional six wheeled milk tanks which worked to and from the West of England. 9"x4". £
- Cabside Numberplate "1434" from GWR 48xx class 0-4-2T 4834 built at Swindon in July 1934 and renumbered in November 1946. It was allocated new to Penmaenpool where it remained until transferred to Machynlleth late in 1947. It soon returned to Penmaenpool and later moved to Croes Newydd, Laira and finally Exeter from where it was withdrawn in July 1962 to be cut up two months later at Cashmores, Newport. The front repainted to a high standard. £
- MS&LR cast iron Notice "Manchester Sheffield And Lincolnshire Railway, Hereby Give Notice That This Bridge Is Insufficient To Carry Weights Beyond The Ordinary Traffic Of The District", original condition with white on black paintwork, 36"x18½" with raised border set in from the edge. £
- BR(M) maroon enamel Doorplate "LADIES ROOM", good colour and shine and unusual in being a single line name on a double line sized plate. £
- Great Western Railway double royal Poster "Newquay, On The Cornish Coast", (No PW1), by Herbert Alker Tripp (1883-1954). Folded, a few edge nicks and one surface blemish. £
- Manchester South Junction and Altrincham Railway Seat Back Nameplate "KNOTT MILL", cast letters on shaped wood to form a pediment to the top bar of the platform seat. Overall 40"x7½" with the 4" mounting brackets below. Original white paintwork with black lettering. £
- Worksplate "British Railways, Derby Built 1961, Power Equipment By Sulzer And Compton Parkinson", from a BR Class 45 1Co-Co1 diesel electric loco. Those built at Derby in 1961 were D20-D49. Cast aluminium, 13"x6½", the front repainted green. £
- Twelve Signal Lever Description Plates from the Bristol Powerbox Scheme. White on black trafolite, the wordings include references to Old Station, Bath Up Relief, South Wales Starting, North Carriage Sidings, Kingsland Road Sidings, Signal Depot Ground Frame, etc. The lever numbers range from 53 to 356. - Builder's Plate "Francis Theakston Ltd, 60 Tufton St, London Sw, Light Railway Engineers, Crewe Works No E2789". Agents for narrow gauge Avonside and Baguley built locos on which it always insisted that its plates should be carried. Cast brass oval, 3⅜"x2¼", the number stamped in. £
- GWR tin plate Notice, "Great Western Railway, Passengers Are Requested To Examine Their Tickets And Change Before Leaving The Booking Office, As Mistakes Cannot Afterwards Be Recognised", black on cream, 13½"x9". £
- 9x5 Worksplate "London & North Eastern Railway, 67634, Doncaster Works, 1935", from V1 Class 2-6-2T No 417 built at Doncaster, Works No 1806, in 1935. It was the first of the Class to be rebuilt in 1940 with a higher pressure boiler and re-classified as V3 Class. It was renumbered 7634 in 1946. In BR days it was shedded at Gateshead and Blaydon from where it was withdrawn in April 1962 to be cut up two months later at Darlington Works. Cast brass oval, 9"x5", with brass renumbering strip (7634 visible underneath). £
- Shedplate "88B" (Cardiff East Dock 1949 to January 1961, then Radyr until October 1968). Also a matching "SC" plate. £
- BR(E) Totem "REEDHAM", dark blue (h/f). Good colour and fair shine, a couple of chips neatly restored. £
- Great Western Railway emergency Train Staff with polished wooden handle and brass shaft, which is engraved "GW", overall 14½" long. This staff was used where a breakdown of the normal single line equipment had occurred, possibly utilising the staff and ticket system. £
- Single Line Key Token "Llandre - Bow Street" (cast steel/cast metal plates each side with raised lettering), a Great Western Railway example from the Cambrian route from Dovey Junction to Aberystwyth. £
- Great Western Railway Fingerboard "Bristol T.M., Weston Super Mare and Taunton", cream on brown paintwork with cast metal end and edge beading, overall 45½"x8". £
- Caledonian Railway enamel Signal Box Nameboard "FORTH BRIDGE", from The Larbert to Alloa route. Some well execyted chip repairs undertaken. £
- BR(Sc) "ESKBANK AND DALKEITH", light blue Totem (f/f). Good colour and shine though slight discolouration, a small chip repair neatly filled and repainted. £
- Great Western Railway Hotels silver-plated Bottle Holder by Mappin and Webb, designed to accommodate half a bottle of red and white wine. £
- Southern Railway Carriage Print "Brenzett, Kent", by Donald Maxwell. £
- Smokebox Numberplate "8494" from a (GWR) 94xx Class 0-6-0PT, one of a batch of 20 built by Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns, Works No 7464, in September 1952 as sub-contractors for Hudswell Clarke & Co who also allotted their own Works No 1843. It was allocated new to Ebbw Junction, later moving to Aberbeeg, Oxford and finally Didcot from where it was withdrawn in January 1962. After six months in store at Swindon Works, it was cut up there the following July. £
- North Eastern Railway signal box Shelf Plate "Scarboro Lines", engraved brass, 14½"x1¼", with black wax infill. £
- LNER cast iron Seatback Plate "STANSTED", from the Great Eastern Railway's Liverpool Street to Cambridge main line, 28" long, original cream paintwork, a repair at the right end. £
- BR(W) Totem "TRURO", chocolate and cream (h/f). Face chip repairs well matched. £
- Midland and South Western Junction Railway enamel Doorplate "PORTERS", from Marlborough station, white serif lettering and border on dark blue, 25¾"x8". Good colour and shine with edge chipping and minor blemishes. £
- Tyers No 6 Single Line Tablet "Horsforth - Arthington" (alloy), from the North Eastern Railway's Leeds to Harrogate and Northallerton route. A temporary section introduced during prolonged engineering works in Bramhope Tunnel. £
- Brass Annets Release Key "PORT DUNDAS No 1 & 2 SWING BRIDGES", from the Caledonian Railway's branch from Sighthill Junction to Port Dundas in the St Rollox area of Glasgow. £
- Railway Executive (WR) quad royal Poster, "Glorious Devon, See Britain By Train" (PR50), by Leslie Arther Wilcox (1904-1982). Rolled with light folds, one area of thinning and a small hole near left edge and usual edge nicks. £
- Shedplate "86B" (Newport Pill 1949 to September 1963, then Ebbw Junction until October 1965). Repainted, the rim and characters lightly polished. £
- Met & GC Notice "Metropolitan & Great Central Joint Committee, Notice, The Joint Committee Will Not Be Responsible, For Any Injury Caused By Or To Any Person Not In Their Employ Using This Crane, And All Such Persons Using It Do So At Their Own Risk, By Order", cast iron 30"x6" with scalloped corners. £
- Great Northern Railway Board mounted Coat of Arms Transfer comprising multiple shields within a belted garter surround. Overall 16" square on a blue background. £
- "Bergen Line" double royal Poster "Madeira And Canaries, The Sunshine Islands By Venus", by Raymond Tooby. £
- London Transport enamel Station Sign in original bronze frame "Way Out And To Piccadilly Line, Platforms 3,4 & 5". The sign was used at Holborn Kingsway and situated at a subway entrance, 89¼"x14½". £
- Market porter's enamel identification Badge "Kings Cross Potato Market (LNER) And Somers Town (LMSR) Potato Depot, Registered Porter 128", the back reads "This Badge Is The Property Of The Kings Cross (LNER) Potato Market And Somers Town (LMSR) Potato Depot Registration Authority". Red on white, 2½" diameter, complete with original leather fixing. £
- Enamel Sign "TELEPHONE", white lettering and border on dark blue, double sided, 22"x9". Good colour and shine with two small face chips on one side and a blemish on the other. £
- Group of North Eastern Railway Key Tags, with keys, (a) "Darlington Memorial Clock Key", copper, 2½"x1", with a huge 10" winding key, (b) "NER, Stockton Platform Clock", copper, 3"x ½" with two door keys, (c) "Saltburn Footplate Staff Vacancies", with LNER key, (d) "51A", small circular brass with door key. (4) £
- BR(S) Totem "BLACKWATER", light green (f/f). Good colour and reasonable shine, slight discolouration to the white enamel, flange edge chips neatly restored. £
- Worksplate "Robert Stephenson & Co Ltd, No 3802, Darlington 1921", from GWR 43XX Class 2-6-0 No 6370. Allocated new to Gloucester in April 1921, at Worcester by 1934 and Pontypool Road by the end of its GWR days. Later sheds were Cardiff Canton, St Philips Marsh, Ebbw Junction and finally back to Pontypool Road from where it was withdrawn in January 1963. Cut up at Hayes, Bridgend between March and June 1964. Engraved brass hexagon, 11½"x5¼". £
- Carriage Print "High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire", from a water colour by W.Fairclough. £
- Great Northern Railway three aspect Handlamp with brass plate "LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, PIPERSWOOD, BAWTRY". The matching top and body both stamped "GNR, 10269". The lamp is complete with its "doughnut" shaped vessel with brass filler cap, burner, reflector, double piecrust top and copper lens cone. Excellent restored condition other than the blue glass being cracked. The box was situated on the East Coast Main Line south of Doncaster. £
- Southern Railway enamel Target Sign "ROWLANDS CASTLE", from the London and South Western Railway's Portsmouth to Guildford (and Waterloo) main line, situated south of Petersfield. Excellent colour and shine, though chip repairs either side of the top half moon (3"x2" approx) and small chip repairs in the corresponding place below, all expertly filled and colour matched. The lettering unaffected. £
- Great Central Railway Tyers Permissive double line Block Instrument, with twin needles indicating "Train On Line/Line Closed/Line Clear", the descriptions repeated in a glazed aperture above the commutator. The instrument has a pair of large trafolite plates "UP GOODS BLOCK TO ROTHERWOOD" and "DOWN GOODS BLOCK FROM ROTHERWOOD", in addition a brass plate is fitted to the right "OPEN AT LINE CLOSED ONLY". The instrument is in excellent condition and complete with commutator with white glass bead, brass plunger on the right-hand side and additional relay case to the rear, secured with a brass padlock. Rotherwood was situated south east of Sheffield on the Woodhead Electric route, where exchange sidings were provided for freight traffic. £
- Pair of Great Western Railway Sugar Tongs by Mappin and Webb, 3¼" long with the "GWR HOTELS" roundel device on the side, excellent condition. £
- Great Central Railway Bridgeplate "GCR 450", unrestored though most paint removed, 14½"x12". £
- Single Line Key Token "WOOBURN GREEN - BOURNE END", (alloy), from the Great Western Railway's Maidenhead to High Wycombe branch, which closed north of Bourne End on 4th May 1970, the southern end continuing to be used by trains to Marlow. £
- Worksplate "LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, 68743, AW & Co LTD, 1922", from a North Eastern Railway Class E1, LNER J72 Class 0-6-0T built by Armstrong Whitworth & Co, Works No 414, in 1922, NER/LNER No 2336, renumbered 8743 in 1946, becoming BR 68743. In BR days it was shedded at Springhead, Dairycoates and Tyne Dock from where it was withdrawn in October. Following eight months in store at Tyne Dock, it was cut up at Darlington Works in June 1962. Cast brass oval (with renumbering strip), 9"x5", the front repainted long ago. £
- BR(M) maroon enamel Station Direction Sign "BRITISH RAILWAYS (totem) WIDNES CENTRAL STATION", (f/f), with a feathered arrow bisected by the word "station". The station was on the Great Central & Midland Joint Lines loop, which ran from Widnes East and West Junctions to Hough Green Junction on the Liverpool to Manchester route of the Cheshire Lines Committee. The loop closed on 5th October 1964. Excellent colour and shine with a couple of tiny rim chips. £
- BR(S) Totem "FOLKESTONE WEST", light green (f/f). Renamed in September 1962 from "Shorncliffe". Good colour and shine, minor edge chipping on the white flange neatly repainted. £
- Shedplate "64G" (Hawick 1949 to January 1966). The front repainted, the back untouched. £
- Worksplate "PECKETT & SONS, BRISTOL, 1901, No 883", from a 0-4-0ST O/C, Peckett Type W4, which went ex Works in July 1901 to the Lilleshall Co Ltd, Oakengates, their No 10. It went on temporary loan to GKN Sankey Ltd of Hadley for a time in 1943. Following rebuilding in 1945, it returned to Lilleshall and was scrapped in September 1958. Engraved brass oval 10¾"x7¼", ex loco condition. £
- Great Western Railway cast iron Cabside Numberplate "6140", from a 6100 Class 2-6-2T built at Swindon in November 1932 and allocated new to Slough. It had moved to Reading by the end of its GWR days and it later moved back to Slough and then Reading again, Severn Tunnel Junction and finally Worcester from where it was withdrawn in July 1964. After five months in store at Worcester, it was cut up the following December at Birds, Morriston, Swansea. The front repainted, the back in original condition. £
- Sykes colour light Signal Repeater, cast aluminium body with curved top, 8"x12½", with green, orange and red lights in traffic light style, the top marked "SYX". The instrument retains its original green paintwork, is 4" deep and though it lacks its rear cover is of an uncommon style. £
- London and North Eastern Railway glass Water Carafe, the company initials displayed on the side in an elegant monogram, overall 7" high with ribbing to the side. £
- BR(W) Totem "LAPWORTH", chocolate and cream (f/f). Good colour and shine, one face chip colour matched and flange rust repainted on the black edge. £
- GCR cast iron Notice, "GREAT CENTRAL RY TRESPASSERS ON THIS PROPERTY WILL BE PROSECUTED, BY ORDER", 20¾x11¾", the front repainted, the back painted though part of the prominent post mark stripped. One of the rarer versions of the company's trespass notices. £
- Great Western Railway pre-grouping cast iron Doorplate "LAMP ROOM", in unrestored condition, with traces of original paint in places, 23¾"x3½", a minor casting fault (hairline crack) in the edge of the moulding below the last letter. £
- Early Road Sign "B6386, SOUTHWELL", the road ran from Calverton to Southwell in Nottinghamshire, a little north of the Nottingham to Newark Railway. Cast aluminium, 20"x14", excellent original condition. £
- Railway Executive (SR) double royal Poster "FOLKESTONE, EXPRESS TRAINS FROM LONDON, THROUGH TRAINS FROM THE MIDLANDS", (AD6356, B37½), by Ronald Lampitt (b. 1906). A panoramic view of the beach, town and harbour including the viaduct on the famous harbour branch and carriages standing at the station. Rolled with folds, excellent condition. A distinctive image by the artist responsible for illustrating the Ladybird children's' books series in the 1950s. £
- LMS sepia Carriage Print "Old Bridge, Pershore" (photographic). £
- Southern Railway enamel Target Sign "SHORNCLIFFE", from the South Eastern Railway's Ashford to Dover route. The station was renamed Folkestone West on 16th September 1962. Excellent colour and shine, a few edge and screw hole chips filled and expertly colour matched, one into the lower part of the letter "F". £
- Great Western Railway aluminium Key Token Holder with steel hoop. Overall 21" long, "GWR 1010" cast into the back. The holder has its original grey paintwork and is complete with a key token "COITY JNC - TONDU" from the GWR (Llynvi Valley) route from Bridgend to Maesteg. The word "North" has been neatly milled off the key after the name "Tondu". £
- Smokebox Numberplate "60117", from the (LNER) A1 Class 4-6-2 "Bois Roussel" built at Doncaster in October 1948, works number 2034, and allocated new to Grantham. In was named in July 1950 after the 1938 Derby winner. Its later sheds were Copley Hill, Gateshead and Ardsley from where it was withdrawn in June 1965. After four months in store at Ardsley, it was cut up at Clayton & Davie of Dunston-on-Tyne the following October. A superb plate in untouched ex loco condition with white paint on the outer edges, a touch often applied by some sheds in the last days of steam. £
- East Coast Joint Stock Inspection Lamp with curved top and glazing to three sides, it is complete with its original vessel, burner and reflector, the case and vessel both with the company initials. The name refers to the coaching stock used by the GNR, NER and NBR companies on its Anglo Scottish expresses, the lamp being provided for use by Guards or Inspectors in emergencies. Fine original condition with the lettering on the case exposed and the interior cleaned. £
- Southern Railway fully titled cast iron Notice, giving instructions and restrictions for the use of occupation crossings. The sign refers to engines or heavy vehicles, propelled or otherwise, damaging the permanent way and timber carriages which may be held up on the permanent way. Fourteen lines of text, 32"x23", white on red paintwork, a hairline crack at each side of the lower bolt hole, an uncommon example, rarely offered for sale. £
- "UNDERGROUND" Poster Map dating from early in the twentieth century (and certainly pre 1907). A geographical representation showing each company in a differing colour, tram routes, main line railways and streets, the Franco British and Earls Court Exhibitions and Marylebone (Bakerloo Rly) station shown with its original name "Great Central". 36"x25", presented in a stylish contemporary frame with prominent title. Excellent condition other than a little fading to the blue border in places. £
- Great Western Railway cast iron Signal Box Nameboard "GROUND FRAME", from Athelney station on the Taunton to Castle Cary route. 51"x8¾", in original condition. The lack of a station name indicates the presence of a conventional signal box (as was the case), whereas locations with ground frames only showed the location on the Nameboard. £

- Shedplate "84A" (Plymouth Laira September 1963 to 1978). Alloy code carried by Laira's allocation of diesel locomotives. The front repainted red, the back untouched. £
- Cast iron Signal Post Finial, comprising of pierced ball with four cut outs and a collar ring above and below, original white paintwork, some loss to sides of square base, overall 31" high. £
- Worksplate "LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, 69911, GATESHEAD WORKS, 1909", from a North Eastern Railway Class X, LNER Class T1, 4-8-0T built at Gateshead in September 1909, NER/LNER No 1351, renumbered 9911 in 1946, becoming BR 69911. One of a class of 13 heavy shunters designed for working in the largest yards, it was at Newport at the Grouping and remained there until withdrawn in March 1957, working in the Erimus hump yards adjacent to Newport shed. It was cut up the following month at Darlington Works. Cast brass oval, 9"x5", cleaned and the front background repainted. £
- Pair of Great Western Railway silver-plated Asparagus Tongs, by Walker and Hall, 9" long with decorative pierced ends, the company's "GWR HOTELS" roundel device prominently displayed on the side, excellent condition. £
- Midland Railway Platform Sign "LADIES ROOM", white on blue enamel, overpainted cream on brown by the Western Region in the 1950s, double sided in wooden frame with bracket, 32"x14" + bracket. The sign was used at Mangotsfield station on the company's Bristol to Gloucester route, the junction for Bath Green Park and the Somerset and Dorset line. £
- Belfast and County Down Railway mounted Coat of Arms Transfer, featuring the company's twin shields flanked by a lion and a seahorse, the company name shown in decorative scrolls below, overall 20"x16", on maroon background. £
- Smokebox Numberplate "4122", from a GWR 5101 Class 2-6-2T built at Swindon in January 1938 and allocated new to Leamington. By the end of its BR days it was at Birkenhead when it remained until moving to Cardiff Cathays in 1957. Its later sheds were Landore, Neyland and finally Aberdare from where it was withdrawn in June 1964. After six months in store at Aberdare it was cut up at Birds, Morriston, Swansea the following December. The front repainted. £
- BR(S) Signal Box Diagram "BATTLE", from the South Eastern Railway's Tunbridge Wells to Hastings route. The diagram is dated 22nd November 1972 and shows the station and box, Battle Road Crossing, Crowhurst Station, track circuits and predominantly semaphore signalling. 44½"x18½", framed and glazed in a sympathetic style. £
- London and South Western Railway brass cased Signal Box Repeater, with red vertical banner and On/Off positions, original unrestored condition, 3¾"x7" and 3" deep. £
- BR(W) Totem "AVONMOUTH DOCK", chocolate and cream (f/f). Good colour and shine, rust on the black flange repainted. £
- Southern Railway solid silver Medallion and Chain, featuring the company coat of arms in the centre in gold and a silver belted garter surround with side decoration and crown. The back is inscribed "N.E.C.C, RH Wills 1929". 1¼"x1½" with 15" chain and leather button clip. The inscription refers to the Nine Elms Cricket Club. £
- North Eastern Railway platform lamp Name Glass "BRIDLINGTON", with raised blue lettering on a frosted background, 12½"x3", from the company's Hull to Scarborough route. £
- Diesel Worksplate "NORTH BRITISH LOCOMOTIVE Co LTD, 1959, No 27859, THE GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANY LTD", from a BR Class 21 Bo-Bo diesel electric D6129 which entered traffic at Ipswich in October 1959 and was refurbished to Class 29 in April 1967. After withdrawal from Eastfield in October 1971, it was cut up at BREL, Glasgow the following June. Ex loco condition with original B.R. blue paintwork (chipped around bolt holes). An unusual plate as few of the class survived long enough to be repainted in the corporate blue livery. £
- Single Line Key Token, "CEFN JCT - NEWLANDS", (alloy), from the Great Western's (Port Talbot Railway) route from Tondu to Margam, to the east of Swansea. £
- Great Western Railway brass cased Drum Clock. The enamel face marked "GWR, KAY & Co, PARIS". The movement and case are both stamped "3295" though the number on the back has been covered with a small patch of solder. The face and case are in excellent condition though the mechanism requires attention. £
- Great Northern Railway fully titled cast iron Bridge Restriction Notice, referring to locomotive traction engines and unusually heavy traffic and signed Kings Cross Station. 27"x19", the front repainted, white on blue. The sign was removed from Mumby Road station on the Willoughby to Mablethorpe branch, which closed on 5th October 1970. £

- Tyers No 6 Single Line Tablet "SUNBURY-SHEPPERTON", (brass/steel). The final section on the London and South Western Railway's Strawberry Hill to Shepperton branch. £
- GWR glass Inkwell emblazoned with the advertising slogan "GO GREAT WESTERN", in script lettering, 2½" diameter, 2¾" high and in excellent condition. £
- Shedplate "34E" (Neasden 1949 to February 1958, then New England until January 1965). The characters repainted, otherwise untouched. £
- Smokebox Numberplate "4943", from the GWR 4900 Hall Class 4-6-0 "Marrington Hall" built at Swindon in July 1929 and allocated new to Old Oak Common where it remained for many years, moving in BR days to Reading, Oxley, back to Old Oak Common, Reading again, Tyseley, Hereford and finally Pontypool Road from where it was withdrawn in January 1964 and cut up at Birds, Morriston two months later. The actual Hall is at Chirbury in Shropshire, about four miles east of Montgomery. The front repainted. £
- Original Oil Painting of LNER A3 Class 4-6-2, 60132 on the Royal Border Bridge at Berwick-Upon-Tweed by Barry Price. A superb view of the locomotive and train approaching the station at the north end of the bridge in BR days, while a light engine heads south to Tweedmouth Shed. Oil on canvas, framed, overall 33"x23". £
- Great Western Railway Builder's Plate "G.W.R. MAKERS, SWINDON 1893", from one of the company's cranes. Rectangular cast iron, 14¾"x6¼", the front repainted, the back untouched except for a ½" band at the edge. £
- Enamel Wagon Plate, "EMPTY To J.S. FRY & SONS LTD, KEYNSHAM & SOMERDALE, W.R.", black on white, 4"x4½", excellent condition. The plate was used on a chocolate wagon, the company having a short branch from the main line to its extensive private sidings just to the north west of the station. £
- BR(M) maroon enamel Sign, which would have been displayed above booking office windows at one of the region's larger stations, in the centre a figure "3" in a box, with text to the left referring to The Conditions Of Issue of Tickets and Season Tickets and to the right, paragraphs referring to the availability of BTC/BR Byelaws and the provision of insurance for passengers and their luggage. The sign is fully flanged, 18"x8½" with an excellent colour and shine and just minor rim chips in places. £
- Great Western Railway brass Cabside Numberplate "6724", from a 5700 Class 0-6-0PT built by WG Bagnall, Works No 2405, in October 1930 and allocated new to Swindon. It was at Barry by the end of its GWR days and remained there for a long while before moving to Newport Pill and then Swansea East Dock from where it was withdrawn in November 1963 to be cut up two months later at Swindon Works. The front repainted red, the back in original condition. £
- BR(S) Totem "WARNHAM", light green (f/f). Good colour and reasonable shine, usual flange chips touched in. £
- Single Line Key Token, "CAEDU CROSSING - BRYNMENYN", (cast iron/engraved brass plate), from the Great Western Railway's Tondu to Blaengarw route. £
- London, Brighton and South Coast Railway small conical Oil Can with a metal plate on the side stamped "GRANGE ROAD" and the company initials stamped below, 6" high with copper tipped spout, repainted black, though lacking its lid. The station was on the Three Bridges to East Grinstead line which closed on 2nd January 1967. £
- Great Western Railway enamel Lamp Tablet "STEVENTON", the first station west of Didcot on the Bristol and South Wales main line. White on black lettering, 30½"x8". The station closed on 7th December 1964. Excellent colour and shine, slight discolouration to the lettering and a small chip at the top left corner. £
- LMS sepia Carriage Print "Elstow Church, Near Bedford" (photographic). In an original compartment frame. £
- London Transport enamel Target Sign "HOLBORN KINGSWAY", in its original bronze frame, from the Piccadilly / Central Line station in the heart of London and reputedly the capitals deepest tube station. A single enamel plate, 54"x42½", with horizontal bronze bars above and below the station name, the suffix of which is shown in angular brackets. The red circle has the 1930s style black edging and the sign has excellent colour and shine with just one small face chip on the white and edge chips which in the main are hidden by the bronze frame. It is of note that few examples in this style have been seen with the frame. £
- North British Railway three aspect Handlamp, the side clearly stamped "FORT AUGUSTUS" and "NBR 1445, 5". It is complete with its original green glass, vessel, screw in burner, reflector and embossed brass "BULPITTS PATENT" maker's plate and is in completely original condition, although the front glass is cracked. The lamp was used at the terminus of the Invergarry and Fort Augustus Railway which opened in 1903, was later worked by the Highland Railway (as part of the plan for a route from Inverness to Fort William), closed between 1911 and 1913 and was re-opened by the N.B.R. in 1914. It closed to passengers on 1st January 1947. The line's name lived on, displayed on the enamel nameboards at the former junction "Spean Bridge, Change For Invergarry and Fort Augustus Bus Services". This is the only item of hardware that we have seen from this line. £
- BR(E) quad royal Poster "SUFFOLK, KERSEY", by Jack Merriott (PP1186). A view of cottages and a street with the church beyond and horses drinking from a stream. The village is situated between Hadleigh and Lavenham, north east of Sudbury. Rolled with folds, a small portion of wear/loss in the centre and at the top affecting the edge of the image. £
- BR(S) Totem "LOWER SYDENHAM", dark green (f/f). Good colour and shine, couple of minor face chips, usual flange chips repainted. £
- Chromed brass Signal Lever Plate "111, DOWN GOODS FACING & FACING COMPOUND - DIESEL DEPOT OUTLET ROAD", a possibly unique wording used at Plymouth and referring to Laira Diesel Depot, 2¼"x7", the brass partially exposed around the lettering. £
- Shedplate "88J" (Aberdare September 1960 to March 1965). Unrestored with original paintwork. £
- Worksplate "HUDSWELL CLARKE & Co LTD RAILWAY FOUNDRY, No 606, LEEDS, 1902", from a 0-6-0ST I/C which went ex works in August 1902 to Powell Duffryn Steam Coal Co Ltd at Aberaman Colliery, their No 7. It was taken over by the National Coal Board in January 1947 but, apart from a short loan period at Tower Colliery, the loco remained at Aberaman until scrapped on site early in 1965. Engraved brass oval, 12¾"x8", the front polished, the back untouched. £
- LNER cast iron Seatback Plate "ARBROATH", from the North British Railway's Edinburgh to Aberdeen main line situated to the north of Dundee, 27½" long, the front repainted. £
- Locomotive Worksplate, "No 2119, DARLINGTON, 1950", from a (LMS) Class 4F (later 4) 2-6-0 No 43077 allocated new in October 1950 to Hull (Dairycoates) where it remained until moving to Goole in July 1965. It later went to Royston and Manningham from where it was withdrawn in May 1967. After a couple of months in store at Wakefield, it was cut up at Drapers, Hull in the September. Engraved brass oval, 12¼"x 6⅜", the front polished, the back in original condition with the engine number "43007" neatly punched in and the loco details noted. £
- BR(E) dark blue enamel Sign, "FROM TIME TO TIME THE WICKET GATES OF THIS CROSSING, WILL NOT BE LOCKED WHEN TRAINS ARE APPROACHING, AT ALL TIMES PERSONS MUST STOP, LOOK AND LISTEN BEFORE CROSSING THE LINE", excellent colour and shine, 38"x18". £
- Great Northern Railway Signal Box Nameboard "FLETTON JUNCTION", the box was situated to the south of Peterborough North station, the junction giving southbound access to the routes from Peterborough East to Market Harborough and Northampton. 92"x9", original condition. £
- GWR "General Strike" solid silver Ashtray, inscribed "GENERAL STRIKE, MAY 1926, TO MR A. EVANS, WITH THE GRATEFUL THANKS OF THE GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY Co", the coat of arms in the centre and hallmark top left. 5¼"x3½", with scalloped corners, boxed with inscription in lid stating that Evans worked on a GWR engine during the strike, excellent condition with clear engraving. £
- BR(W) chocolate and cream enamel Lamp Tablet, "ACTON", from "Acton Main Line" station on the Great Western Railway just outside Paddington. 19¾"x6", with top flange, good colour and shine, a little edge chipping carefully matched and a bit of surface wear in places although generally good. £
- South Yorkshire Joint Railway cast iron Notice "S.Y.J.R. TRESPASSERS ON THIS RAILWAY WILL BE PROSECUTED, BY ORDER", the front repainted, the back in original condition with prominent post mark, 15"x10". The company's route ran from Dinnington Junction, near Shireoaks to Kirk Sandall Junction, north west of Doncaster and opened in 1909, passenger services lasting only twenty years. This is one of the original signs, erected when the line was built, quite a rare example. £
- Metropolitan Railways mounted Coat of Arms Transfer, a large and dramatic design with central divided shield displaying stag and swan, flanked on either side by draped ermine and velvet, overall 20" square on maroon background. £
- BR(NE) tangerine enamel Doorplate with black edged lettering "LADIES WAITING ROOM", (f/f), excellent colour and shine and retaining the brass spacers in the screw holes, one tiny chip on the "O" and a few minor marks, a superb example. £
- Pair of Great North of Scotland Railway cast iron Seat Ends, with thistle decoration and black paintwork, a unique style and originating from Fraserburgh station. £
- Single Line Key Token "SWANSEA LOOP EAST - LANDORE L.L.", (alloy) from the Great Western Railway's Morriston branch. £
- Early cast iron Road Sign, "BEND", with the usual pictogram and complete with its fifteen glass reflectors, 12"x21", unrestored with original paintwork. £
- BR(Sc) Totem "COUPAR ANGUS", light blue (f/f). Good colour and shine with just minor rust repainted at the edge of the black flange. £
- Worksplate "No 1058, GORTON, 1952", from a BR Class 76 electric locomotive which entered traffic at Mexborough in January 1953 as No 26051 and was named "MENTOR" in June 1959 after, in Greek mythology, the faithful friend whom Odysseus entrusted with his affairs and the education of his son Telemachus when he left for the Trojan Wars. It was renumbered 76051 in 1974, from Reddish in July 1981 and cut up at CF Booth, Rotherham in March 1983. Engraved brass oval, 12"x6½", the front polished, the back in original condition. £
- Small London Transport Target Sign "PICCADILLY CIRCUS", in its original bronze frame with central bars above and below the name, a famous Central London location on the Bakerloo and Piccadilly lines. Overall 24¼"x20", excellent condition other than a small edge chip in the blue, below the "P". £
- Railway Convalescent Homes Smoker's Cabinet with R.C.H Tobacco Jar. The cabinet is constructed in the style of a miniature wardrobe with decorative panels to the doors and a shaped pediment. The front bears a silver plate "PRESENTED TO MR GEO SCHOLEFIELD, BY THE STAFF AT BRAMLEY STATION JUNE 1904", the interior is shelved with two drawers and pipe racks. Overall 12¾"x18", depth 6½". The tobacco jar is of blue glazed china with a central brown panel depicting Leasowe Castle and the Herne Bay Convalescent Homes, overall 5½" high and 4" diameter, a small chip under the lid, not visible, otherwise the jar and case are in excellent condition. £
- Smokebox Numberplate "60961", from a LNER V2 Class 2-6-2 No 3673 built at Darlington in December 1942, renumbered 961 in 1946, becoming BR 60961. A long-time York engine, it was withdrawn from there in April 1965 and cut up at Drapers, Hull three months later. Repainted, with a thin white line at the edge. We sold the matching 9x5 Works and Tender plates in our January sale. £
- Rail Bus Builder's Plate "BR, PARK ROYAL VEHICLES LTD, LOT No 30480, 1958", from one of the company's rail buses numbered 79970-79974 which were allocated new to the London Midland region of British Railways for the working of the Hitchin to Bedford, Northampton to Bedford and other rural branches in the area. They were all transferred to the Scottish Region in 1960 for similar branch line work including services around Alloa and Ayr and famously on the Craigendoran to Arrochar and Tarbet shuttle on the West Highland Line. 79970 was scrapped at Ayr sheds in September 1967, 79971 was withdrawn in February 1968 and its grounded body used as a mess and storeroom until buried at Pattersons Tip, Mount Vernon, Glasgow in July 1984 due to asbestos contamination, 79972/3 were scrapped in December 1966 by A Looms of Sponden, Derby and 79974 was scrapped in December 1968 by J Connell and Co at Eastfield. Cast aluminium oval, 7"x4¾", the front repainted, the back untouched, the left-hand bolt hole enlarged during removal. A very rare survivor. £
- GWR enamel Notice, "GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY, CAUTION! UNAUTHORISED PERSONS INTERFERING WITH THE ELECTRIC GEAR WILL BE INSTANTLY DISMISSED, BY ORDER, ENGINEERS OFFICE LOCO, CARRIAGE & WAGON DEPT, SWINDON, JANUARY 1910", red on white with black edge, 11¼"x9¾", excellent colour and shine, screw holes torn at top corners and chipping affecting first and last two letters, screw hole chips at base, the lettering unaffected. £
- Southern Railway Train Describer, a transmitting instrument from Wimbledon "A" Signal Box, manufactured by Siemens & Co. The case is 12"x15½", depth 7¼", the top bears two brass plates "UP MAIN LOCAL TO CLAPHAM JCT A, WEST LONDON, QUEENS ROAD, LOCO JCT", also "LAST SENT DESCRIPTION, TRANSMIT", below are twelve trafolite plates with red lights to the left and chrome buttons to the right, the descriptions include references to Clapham Jct, pcls/vans, Locomotive, Race Spl, Ballst, Loco W'loo, G'ford New Line etc. A good example, the wooden case in fine original condition with maker's plate at base. £
- Southern Railway Train Describer, the matching receiving instrument from Raynes Park Signal Box, with three rows of red lights and brass plate above "DESTINATION, 1st, 2nd, 3rd ". The description plates refer to Raynes Park, Ety W'loo, Locomotive, Ft/Bal, Via EP, Race Spl, etc. 12"x17½", 6" deep. £
- Shedplate "86A" (Cardiff Canton September 1963 to 1978). Alloy code carried by Canton's allocation of diesel locomotives. The front cleaned and repainted red. £
- Smokebox Numberplate "34088", from the (Southern Railway) "Battle of Britain" Class 4-6-2 Light Pacific "213 Squadron" built at Brighton in December 1948 and rebuilt without its original air-smoothed casing in April 1960. It was allocated new to Ramsgate and moved to Stewarts Lane in 1954 where it remained until transferred to Nine Elms in May 1961 and finally Eastleigh in September 1964. After withdrawal in March 1967, it was stored for a year, first at Nine Elms and then Salisbury, before being cut up at Cashmores, Newport in March 1968. The numbers probably repainted and the background touched up, the back in totally original condition with the "BR(S), E", Eastleigh Triangle cast in and the letter "A" above. £
- BR(M) Totem "MELTON MOWBRAY", maroon (f/f). Good colour and shine, the flange repainted, the lower flange slightly out of true at the ends. £
- Brass Annets Release Key "WESTERTON UP SIDINGS GROUND FRAME", from the North British Railway's Glasgow, Dumbarton and Helensburgh route, the junction for the Milgavie branch. £
- Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway platform Wall Lamp displaying the station name "WRYDE" in a frosted glass panel with raised blue lettering. The station was on the Peterborough to Wisbech route and closed on 2nd December 1957, with through passenger services lasting until 1959, goods traffic was finally withdrawn in 1966. The lamp is of steel construction with a copper roof and chimney, overall 26" high, the body painted green, the top lightly polished. £
- Diesel Worksplate "BRUSH TRACTION No 192, 1960", from a BR Class 31 A1A-A1A diesel electric D5592 which entered traffic at Hornsey in February 1960, was renumbered 31402 in February 1974 and was withdrawn in March 1992 from Bescot and cut up at TJ Thomson, Stockton in about 2002. Cast aluminium oval, 9½"x5¾", the front cleaned and repainted in loco blue, the back lightly cleaned but with plenty of oxidization in the centre. £
- Diesel Locomotive Nameplate "King's Lynn", from a BR Class 47 Co-Co diesel electric D1771 built by Brush, Works No 533, in October 1964 and allocated new to Darnall. It was renumbered 47176 in August 1973 and 47576 in June 1980. Having spent its early days in the north-east, it was transferred to Stratford for use on services to East Anglia. It was due to be named at Kings Lynn station on 19th January 1987 but the naming ceremony was cancelled due to adverse weather and it named without ceremony at Stratford later in the January. The nameplates were removed in June 1992 and, following withdrawal from regular service, it moved to Springs Branch in January 2001 for component recovery and eventual cutting up. The plate is 45" long and is in ex loco condition with the original red paintwork. £
- BR(S) dark green enamel Fascia Sign "NUNHEAD STATION", (f/f), with "Southern" totems at each end, from the London, Chatham and Dover Railway's Brixton to Shortlands Junction route. Excellent colour and shine, 24"x107". £
- BR(Sc) Totem "STRICHEN", light blue (h/f). Edge chip filled and colour matched. £
- Carriage Print "Runcorn Bridge", by Kenneth Steel, from the "Railway Architecture" series. £
- Great Western Railway cast iron Cabside Numberplate "5168", from a 5101 Class 2-6-2T built at Swindon in December 1930 and allocated new to Reading. It soon moved to Chester and by the end of its GWR days was at Shrewsbury where it was to remain until re-allocated to Treherbert in the Welsh valleys in 1955. The following year it moved to the West Country at Newton Abbot from where it was withdrawn in August 1958 to be cut up two months later at Swindon Works. Most unusually, and attractively, the cabside retains its original red background paint. The red background colour was introduced by an instruction issued in November 1949 following a suggestion by a member of the public but the practice was discontinued in April 1952, apparently following complaints from numerous railway enthusiasts, especially photographers. In most cases the red had been overpainted with the standard black background before the engines were withdrawn (or later by collectors who acquired the plates) but this engine must have avoided a repaint before it met its end. A great rarity. £
- Cambrian Railways mounted Coat of Arms Transfer, featuring The Prince of Wales Feathers on an olive background, overall 17"x16". £
- Tyers No 6, Single Line Tablet "TOPSHAM - EXMOUTH", (brass/steel), from the London and South Western Railway's Exeter Central to Exmouth branch, a picturesque section running along the shore of the Exe Estuary. £
- BR(S) Locomotive Headlamp with an embossed brass plate "BR(S), H6846" on the top, a revolving drum with red glass and embossed "BR" on the base, it is repainted white, though lacks its burner and vessel. £
- BR(M) double royal Poster, "LICHFIELD CATHEDRAL, See Britain By Train", 1957 (LM 16657), by John Greene who studied at the Royal College of Art. A classic view from the river to the three spires of the famous structure. Rolled, minor edge nicks only. £
- BR(W) Totem "LLANDAFF (For Whitchurch)", chocolate and cream (f/f). Good colour and shine £
- Locomotive Tenderplate "BR1, 853, 1952", from the 4250 gallon tender coupled from new in December 1952 with BR Standard "Britannia" Class 7MT No 70034 "Thomas Hardy" and from May 1964 with sister engine No 70044 "Earl Haig", which was withdrawn in October 1966 and cut up the following February by TW Ward, Beighton. Cast iron, 8"x5¾", the front repainted white on pale blue, the back silver undercoat with rust patches. £
- London and North Western Railway Semaphore Signal Repeater with steel case and curved top, the red home signal on a brass post, within circular display, with "Wrong" and "In/Out" indicators. The case is 9¾" high and clearly engraved "L&NWRy ELECTRICAL & SIGNAL DEPT, CREWE, No 3313". A fine example, the case in sound condition. £
- Locomotive Nameplate "OTTERY ST. MARY", with its matching "West Country Class" scroll from the Southern Railway 4-6-2 Light Pacific built at Brighton in October 1946, SR No 21C145, becoming BR 34045 in December 1948. It was allocated new to Exmouth Junction, moved to Brighton in 1951 and, following rebuilding without its original air-smoothed casing in October 1958, to Nine Elms and for its final six years to Bournemouth from where it was withdrawn in June 1964. After storage at Bournemouth for some nine months, it was moved to Barry Docks where it became one of the few locos to be scrapped by Dai Woodham in May 1965. One of the best names in the Class, it never had an accompanying badge, and is one of only three with 5" high letters instead of the standard 6" letters, the others being Templecombe and Bere Alston. Ex loco condition, a lovely example, 75" long, original red paintwork with green on the rim, the scroll likewise untouched. £
- London Brighton and South Coast Railway enamel Indicator Plate "CROWBOROUGH", from the Brighton station departure board, blue on white, 12"x1½", edge chips repainted just touching the edge of the letters in two places. £
- Class 76 electric locomotive Builder's Plate "ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT BY METROPOLITAN VICKERS ELECTRICAL Co LTD, MANCHESTER & SHEFFIELD, ENGLAND", cast brass oval 12"x6", the front cleaned and polished, the back untouched. The plate was removed from locomotive 76051 "MENTOR", see lot 163. £
- Great Western Railway cast iron Notice "G.W.R, THE ISSUE OF TICKETS WILL COMMENCE 15 MINUTES BEFORE THE DEPARTURE OF EACH TRAIN", a previously unseen example dating from the 1880s, when the fifteen minute practice was introduced. 15"x9", unrestored with some traces of original paintwork, the moulded border typical of the earlier notices produced by this company. £
- BR(M) maroon enamel Doorplate "STAFF ONLY", excellent colour and shine with just the odd surface mark. £
- BR(Sc) Totem "GREENHILL", light blue (f/f). Good colour, though loss of shine, a chip repair affecting the "G" and "R" and the area between, filled and colour matched. £
- London and North Eastern Railway cast iron Seatback Plate "GRANTHAM", from one of the principal stations on The East Coast Main Line, 32" long, ex station condition with original paintwork. A rare opportunity to acquire a sign from this station as to date no totems have appeared. £
- Carriage Print "Blythburgh, Near Halesworth, Suffolk", from a water colour by Eric Scott. £
- Shedplate "25C" (Goole 1935 to October 1956). LMS style code from the ex L&Y shed. The front repainted long ago. £
- Webb and Thompson large train staff "WADDON MARSH-WEST CROYDON", from the London Brighton and South Coast Railway's Wimbledon to Mitcham Junction and West Croydon route, tubular steel with brass rings and engraved brass name plate. £
- Single Line Key Token "COMMON BRANCH Jc - TONTEG", (alloy), from the Taff Vale Railway's route from Cardiff to Tonteg Juncton where it joined the Barry Railway. This section closed in 1964, other than the southern portion to Cwm Colliery, which lasted until 1978. £
- Great Western Railway Crane Numberplate "G.W.R. LOCO & CARR, DEPT, No 240", cast iron rectangle, 10½"x5¾", the front repainted, together with the matching specification plate, "TARE, WHEN WORKING, T30, C3 Q3; WHEN TRAVELLING, T28, C11, Q2", cast iron rectangle, 21¼"x8", unrestored with original paintwork. (2) £
- LMS enamel Lamp Tablet "LOW MOOR", from the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway's Bradford to Halifax and Dewsbury route. Black on yellow, 17"x4½" and retaining its original hanging hoop, a couple of small face chip repairs expertly undertaken and similar around screw holes. The station closed on 14th June 1965. £
- BR(W) Totem "BLOWERS GREEN", chocolate and cream (f/f). Good colour and shine with just the usual edge chips repainted. £
- Set of Electric Loco Numbers "E3038", from a BR Class 84 Bo-Bo electric built by North British Locomotive Co, Works no 27795, and allocated new to Longsight in June 1960. It was renumbered 84003 in May 1972, withdrawn from Crewe Electric Depot in November 1980 and cut up at V Berry, Leicester in January 1986. Hollow stainless steel construction with front fixing holes, ex loco condition with blue paintwork overpainted with silver in places. £
- Great Northern Railway signal box Block Bell with tapper and ivorine plate "FITZWILLIAM", the bell mounted beneath the rectangular case. The box was on the West Riding and Grimsby Railway (GN & GC) between Doncaster and Wakefield. The station was provided by the LNER in 1937. £
- Smokebox Numberplate "5993", from the GWR 4900 "Hall" Class 4-6-0 "Kirby Hall" built at Swindon in December 1939 and allocated new to Tyseley where it stayed until 1951. It spent all its later years at Reading from where it was withdrawn in May 1963 and was cut up at Swindon Works three months later. The actual Hall is an English Heritage property near Corby in Northamptonshire. The front repainted long ago over the original paintwork. £
- Diesel Locomotive Nameplate description plaque, "THIS LOCOMOTIVE WAS NAMED AT THE 10TH COALVILLE DEPOT OPEN DAY IN RECOGNITION OF THE FUNDS RAISED FOR THE ST CHRISTOPHERS RAILWAY HOME". Cast aluminium rectangle, 17¾"x6¾", ex loco condition with original black paintwork. £
- Metropolitan Railway internal brass Carriage Door Lock. The front plate inscribed "LIVE IN METROLAND" in decorative script lettering, the handle engraved "Lift to Open". Overall 5"x5½". £
- Small wooden Carriage Board "WEYMOUTH/SWINDON", original cream on maroon letters, 32"x3¾", with steel straps at the ends. £
- Diesel Worksplate "NORTH BRITISH LOCOMOTIVE COMPANY LTD, GLASGOW 1962, No 27910", from a BR Class 22 B-B diesel electric D6337 which entered traffic at Newton Abbot in March 1962 and was withdrawn from Laira in October 1971. It was cut up at BREL, Swindon in May 1972. Cast aluminium diamond lightly cleaned only, though the left and right tip broken from the outer part of the screw holes; nevertheless an uncommon example as most of the class carried brass worksplates. £
- Original oil painting "DEMISE OF STEAM", by Peter Annable, a superb shed scene featuring a GWR Hall Class 4-6-0 devoid of its name and numberplate, with a 28XX Class standing beside and other locos in the background. The setting is thought to be Banbury Shed, a fine evocative image, framed, 26"x19", oil on canvas. £
- London and North Western Railway signal box Nameboard, "ELMESTHORPE", from the company's Leicester to Nuneaton route and situated just to the east of Hinckley. The station closed on 4th March 1968. Cast letters on wood, 62"x10½", with beading and original white on maroon paintwork. £

- North Eastern Railway Staff and Ticket Box, "EDLINGHAM & WHITTINGHAM", from the Alnwick to Coldstream route which closed to passengers on 22nd September 1930, this section closing to freight in 1953. The original red paintwork on the front was over painted but this has been carefully removed to expose the original wording. £
- Shedplate "2C" (Warwick 1950 to November 1958, then Stourbridge Junction Sept 1963 to July 1966). Ex loco condition with original paintwork £
- Industrial Locomotive Nameplate "LION", from a 0-6-0T O/C which went ex Works in July 1919 to Locket's Merthyr Collieries (1894) Ltd at Mardy Colliery. It later moved to Powell Duffryn Associated Collieries Ltd at Duffryn Aberdare Colliery, Hirwaun. On being taken into National Coal Board ownership in January 1947, it worked at Aberaman Colliery until scrapped in December 1964. Cast brass, 25½"x9½", the lettering and edge polished, with original maroon paintwork. £
- Industrial Locomotive Nameplate "LION". This is the second plate from the locomotive, in similar condition, though with a few knocks to the edge of the rim and a little marking on the lettering. £
- Locomotive Works plate "HUDSWELL CLARKE & Co LTD, RAILWAY FOUNDRY, No 1354, LEEDS 1919", from "LION". Engraved brass oval, 13"x8", the face lightly polished, the back untouched. (See lot 215 for locomotive history) £
- Worksplate "PECKETT & SONS LTD, REBUILT 1959, BRISTOL", cast brass oval, 7¼"x5", from "LION". Ex loco condition with original maroon paintwork, the brass lightly polished, a minor score mark below the year dating from its time in traffic. (See lot 215 for locomotive history) £
- Smokebox Numberplate "82002", from a BR Standard Class 3MT 2-6-2T built at Swindon and allocated new to Tyseley in May 1952. It later moved to Barry, Newton Abbot, Treherbert, Bristol Bath Road, both Chester sheds, Templecombe where it worked on the Somerset & Dorset Joint Line, Hereford and finally Exmouth Junction from where it was withdrawn in February 1964. It was cut up at Eastleigh Works two months later. The front repainted. £
- BR(S) dark green Totem "TUNBRIDGE WELLS CENTRAL", dark green (f/f). Good colour and shine, with minor rust repainted at the back of the flange. £
- Single Line Key Token "MEDSTEAD - ALRESFORD", (brass), from the London and South Western Railway's Alton to Winchester route, which closed on 5th February 1973. £
- Great Central Railway silver-plated six slice Toast Rack, by Walker and Hall and engraved with the company's full "Forward" coat of arms at each end and the name "Accrington" a steamship which formed part of the company's fleet sailing from Grimsby and Immingham. £
- Great Central Railway Wagon Plate "G.C.R, 15513", original unrestored condition, 13"x6", with scalloped corners. £
- Locomotive Nameplate "City of Kingston upon Hull", from the BR Class 43 HST power car No 43116 built at BREL Crewe in March 1979 and allocated new to Neville Hill. It was named at Hull Paragon station by the Lord Mayor of Hull on 9th May 1983, originally with cast alloy plates but replaced by reflective plates with silver background and badge above in June 1991. These later plates were themselves removed in January 1997. The original sales document accompanies this lot. Stainless steel plate, 51"x6", with matching badge 8¾" square, featuring the city's coat of arms. £
- Southern Railway enamel Target Sign, "KEARNSEY", from the London Chatham and Dover Railway's Canterbury to Dover Line, the last station before Dover. Excellent colour and shine with the usual edge and screw hole chips neatly filled and the colour matched. £
- Furness Railway fully titled cast iron Notice, "Caution To Trespassers, December 1909", 26"x19", the front repainted. £
- Pair of Great Eastern Railway cast iron Platform Seat Ends, displaying the company's monogram initials in the centre, one has been welded and both repainted, they retain the original wooden feet, though one requires replacement. A good matching pair which would provide a lovely garden seat. £
- R.A.C. enamel Road Sign "A5, BETTWS - Y- COED; A494, BALA, RAC", black on white enamel, (f/f), with blue "RAC" emblem top left, overall 33"x30", with excellent colour and shine. The sign was displayed at the junction in the village of Druid, just west of Corwen. £
- BR(M) Totem Sign, "GATEACRE", maroon (f/f). Reasonable colour though some loss of shine, one small face chip and a couple of edge chips, all neatly matched. £
- Locomotive Nameplate "Sir William A Stanier FRS", from a BR Class 86 25kv Bo-Bo E3191 built by English Electric and Vulcan Foundry, Works Nos 3483 and E329, in November 1965. Renumbered 86201 in August 1972 and 86101 in June 1974, it was named after the former Chief Mechanical Engineer of the LMS from 1932 to 1944 on 27th October 1978 at Liverpool Lime Street station by Michael Stanier, Sir William's grandson. The nameplates were removed in 2005, when the loco was purchased by the AC Locomotive Group, and this plate handed to the North West Branch of the Locomotive Club of Great Britain who sponsored the original naming and on whose behalf we are selling the plate. The loco has recently been seen working on the East Coast Main Line. Cast aluminium 90"x10" in superb ex loco condition with original black paintwork and the traces of the earlier red background visible in places. A fine example, probably the best name in the Class. £
- New Zealand Railway, brass maker's plate "N Z R, RAILWAY WORKSHOPS", probably from a New Zealand Railway carriage. Circular cast brass 4¾" diameter, a couple of surface knocks on the patterned background, unrestored condition. £
- BR/SNCF quad royal Poster "BON VOYAGE", by Terence Cuneo (AD6649/B25), featuring a busy scene at Calais Maritime station with two steam hauled expresses awaiting departure, one conveying Wagon Lit cars, in the background the steamer "Invicta". Rolled and mounted on card, a little edge wear and a portion of overlay at the lower border. £
- London and North Eastern Railway enamel Station Direction Sign "LNER STATION (arrow) WEST MONKSEATON", from the North Eastern Railway's electrified Tyne Circle route, now part of the Tyne and Wear Metro system. White on blue, double sided, 24½"x9½", with good colour and shine, a couple of face chips and edge chips with a little wasting, the other side has slightly more wear and crazing, nevertheless a good example and a rare survivor. £
- BR(Sc) light blue enamel Doorplate "TICKETS", excellent colour and shine with just a couple of minor rim chips. £
- Great Northern Railway three aspect Handlamp with brass plate "GREAT NORTHERN RAILWAY COMPANY, BLANKNEY No 3". The lamp is complete with its slide in vessel stamped "LNER 1523", burner, reflector and red/green glasses, it has a double piecrust top and copper lens and is in fine restored condition. The station was situated on the Great Northern and Great Eastern Joint Line between Lincoln and Sleaford, it closed on 11th September 1961. £
- Railway Signal Company miniature Train Staff "KILLUCAN-46 MILE BOX", from the Midland Great Western Railway's Dublin to Sligo and Galway route, the section situated just east of Mullingar. Tubular with rings and brass cap inscribed with the names, the cap a little worn but the lettering clear. £
- Cheshire Lines Committee mounted Coat of Arms Transfer, featuring the shields of the constituent companies, framed and glazed on a white background, overall 28"x23". £
- Birmingham Corporation Tramways Tram Destination Indicator comprising glazed wooden case, brass fixings and an internal destination blind, turned with the accompanying key. 38"x11" and 3" deep, fine original condition. Destinations include Longbridge, Rubury, Rednal, Northfield, Special Car, Selly Oak, Pershore Road, Kings Heath, County Ground, etc. £
- Great Western Railway cast iron Cabside Numberplate "5693", from a 5600 Class 0-6-2T built at Swindon in January 1927 and allocated new to Swindon. It had moved to Barry by the end of its GWR days and later was at Treherbert for many years up until withdrawal. It was then stored at Treherbert for a year or so, before being cut up at Hayes, Bridgend between January and April 1964. Unrestored with original paintwork which is worn in places, the back untouched. £
- Tyers No 6 Single Line Tablet "WROXHAM - AYLSHAM", (brass/steel), from the Great Eastern Railway's Wroxham to Country School line. The eastern part of the route was retained and connected to the M&GN line to Lenwade in 1960 by means of a new spur, finally closing in 1983. £
- Locomotive Nameplate "BASESE", from an East African Railways metre gauge "Tribal" Class 31 2-8-4 No 3120 built by Vulcan Foundry, Works No 6247, in 1955. The Class 31s were a lightweight general purpose design modified from Crown Agents "River" Class. Cast brass 34"x 6¾", the front repainted red, the back untouched with raised lettering "EAR & H", clearly cast in the plate. £
- Shedplate "21B" (Bournville 1935 to February 1960, then Bescot until Sept 1963). The front repainted though much of the white worn off, the back untouched. £
- BR(M) Totem "CHEDDINGTON", maroon (f/f). Good colour and shine with edge chips on the white border. £
- Single Line Key Token "CHARLESTOWN JN - VALLEYFIELD", (alloy), from the North British Railway's Dunfermline to Stirling route, the eastern section still used by coal trains to Kincadine and Longennet. £
- GWR silver-plated half pint Tankard, by Mapin and Webb, with the company's "GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY HOTELS" coat of arms on the side, excellent condition, overall 4" high. £
- Great Western Railway white enamel 3" Tea Mug, with blue handle and rim, the side prominently marked with the company initials, some chips and rust, but pretty good. A rare survivor, which was used in the company canteen at Swindon Works. £
- LNER cast iron seatback plate "KIRKCALDY", from the North British Railway's Edinburgh to Aberdeen main line. 32" long, the front repainted white on blue, the back in original condition though a neat repair at the right end. £
- Previously unseen and unrecorded BR(W) double royal Poster "CHELTENHAM SPA, FOR THE COTSWOLDS", by Relf, the artwork produced in 1948 and the poster issued in the early 1950s (PR 40). A view of the town looking north-east towards Bredon Hill, with a barn and sheep grazing in the foreground. The poster is framed and glazed though it is faded and has some corner damage/loss. £
- London Transport enamel Target Sign "KINGS CROSS ST PANCRAS", red and blue on white, with black edge, excellent colour and shine and minor screw hole chips. 48"x60" and designed to fit on the tunnel wall opposite a single line tube platform. £
- BR(W) Totem "WIDNEY MANOR", chocolate and cream (f/f). Good colour and excellent shine, with very slight mottling. £
- London Brighton and South Coast Railway fully titled cast iron Trespass Notice referring to the company's act of 1899 and signed J.Brewer, Secretary, London Bridge Station, October 1899. 25"x21", the front repainted, the back primered but with prominent post mark. £
- GWR First World War badge "GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY, - RAILWAY SERVICE", brass with blue, white and red enamel, 1" diameter. Although the GWR was one of the larger companies issuing such badges these were collected in after the War and few have survived, making it a rather uncommon example. £
- Small Great Western Railway wooden Board "RETURN TO WEYMOUTH", cream on black with script lettering, 32"x6", identical pattern to the small carriage boards, the same length though a little deeper, it was probably used on goods or parcel vans. £
- North British Railway signal box Nameboard "REDDING", from the Edinburgh to Glasgow main line. The box was situated between Polmont Junction and Falkirk High. 36½"x11", cast letters on wood with beading, the front repainted black on white. £
- Diesel Worksplate "BRUSH TRACTION, No 248, 1960", from a BR Class 31 A1A-A1A diesel electric D5648 which entered traffic at Finsbury Park in September 1960 and became 31222 in February 1974. It was withdrawn from Bescot in October 1988 and cut up at V Berry, Leicester in February 1990. Cast aluminium oval, 9½"x5¾", cleaned and the front repainted green. £
- Diesel Locomotive "flamecut" Cabside Panel "47 365", with Channel Tunnel Sector emblems, from a BR Class 47 D1884 built by Brush, works No 646, in July 1965 and allocated new to Immingham. It was renumbered 47365 in March 1974 and named "Diamond Jubilee" at an open day at ICI Wilton on 20th September 1986 to mark the 60th anniversary of ICI signing their first contract for shipment of goods by rail with the Cheshire Lines Committee. In March 1994 it was re-branded at Tinsley in RFD revised Channel Tunnel livery, as one of the dedicated fleet used on workings to the Channel Tunnel. In September 2004 the loco was acquired by Cotswold Rail but sold by them to Booths, Rotherham and cut up in October 2007. 36"x26", original two tone grey paintwork. £
- Worksplate "W.G. BAGNALL LTD, ENGINEERS, No 1889, STAFFORD ENGLAND", from a 3' 0" gauge 0-4-0ST O/C which went ex Works in May 1911 to Judkins Ltd at Tuttle Hill Quarries, Nuneaton, their No1. It went to ME Engineering Ltd, Cricklewood in 1957 and then to BR Beeston Creosote Works where it was numbered E.D. 10. In October 1962 it went to SA Burgess at Haddenham via March MPD and is now preserved in Huntingdon. Cast brass oval, 6⅜"x4", the front polished, the back untouched. £
- London and North Western Railway brass Seal "L.&.N.W.Ry, COALVILLE, COACHING", circular 1" diameter head, overall 3¾" high with turned oak handle. The seal was used at Coalville East station on the branch from Charnwood Forest Junction to Loughborough Derby Road. Passenger services were withdrawn on 13th April 1931 though the route continued to be used for goods traffic to Loughborough until 1935, with a short spur to Coalville East surviving until 1967. The image in the catalogue has been reversed to show the wording as it would appear when used. £
- Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway cast brass signal box Instrument Plate "NORTH BRIDGE NORTH", from the Halifax and Ovenden Joint Line from Halifax to Holmfield, where it connected with The Great Northern route to Bradford and Keighley, the line closed in 1960. The plate is 5" x ⅝" with shaped ends and refers to Halifax North Bridge. £
- Carriage Print "Much Hadham, Hertfordshire", from a watercolour by Horace Wright. £
- BR(S) Totem "ALBANY PARK", dark green (f/f). Good colour and shine, minor rim chips. £
- Dundalk, Newry and Greenore Railway mounted Coat of Arms Transfer, with the company name displayed in a blue belted garter with "1873" below, the centre panel shows Britannia shaking hands with a female figure holding a harp, a black dog seated at her feet, in the background a train, steamship and lighthouse. A lovely example, overall 20¼"x 15½" on a brown background. £
- North Eastern Railway enamel Doorplate "PARCELS OFFICE", reddish brown on cream, 27"x8", excellent colour and shine, chips at the four screw holes and one tiny face chip. This style of sign was displayed above the door in a wooden frame. £
- Brass Annets Release Key "STONEYWOOD BRANCH", which controlled access to the Caledonian Railway's branch from Larbert Junction to Stoneywood, which was the last remaining part of a network of goods and colliery lines serving the Denny and Ingliston area, it finally closed in 1971. £
- Webb and Thompson large Train Staff "MAESYCRUGIAU - LLANYBYTHER", from the Great Western Railway's Aberytswyth to Carmarthen route. The section was situated just south of Lampeter and closed to passengers on 22nd February 1965, though this part remained open for milk traffic until 1973, albeit with a more basic signalling system. The staff is of tubular steel construction with brass rings and engraved brass nameplates and is in fine original condition. £
- Great Western Railway Board Game "RACE TO THE OCEAN COAST". The original box featuring King George V at speed and the folding board showing a map of the company's system, with coats of arms and vignettes of towns. Included are three painted metal "engine" tokens (one broken) and dice cup, together with replacement dice and a photocopy of the rules. The game was produced by Chad Valley Ltd for The GWR, generally a good example for its age with a little wear at the corners of the box. £
- Shedplate "5A" (Crewe North 1935 to May 1965). In ex loco condition and complete with original fixing bolts. £
- Smokebox Numberplate "48430", from a LMS Class 8F 2-8-0 built at Swindon in 1944 to Railway Executive Committee order and loaned initially to the GWR and then to the LMS in 1946/7, becoming LMS No 8430. In BR days as 48430 it was allocated to Westhouses but was re-transferred to the Western Region in 1956, allocated first to St Philips Marsh, then Chester, Tyseley, Stourbridge and finally Tyseley from where it was withdrawn in April 1965. After four months in store at Saltley, it was cut up at Darlington Works the following August. Ex loco condition with thick encrusted paintwork. £
- Southern Railway Sykes brass case Signalling Repeater "TRACK, CLEAR OCCUPIED"; with black lettering and suspended needle on a white background, the white bakelite back marked "SYX". £
- BR(Sc) Totem "GARVE", light blue (h/f). With a crease repair affecting most of the letter "G" and a further vertical repair. Filled and matched. Varnished. £

- BR(M) double royal Poster "THE EDEN VALLEY, The River Eden at Bolton Near Appleby", 1959, by Claude Buckle, (LM22059). A view of a couple seated on the parapet of the river bridge with woodland and the Westmorland Fells beyond. Minor edge nicks and similar at two folds only. £
- BR(NE) tangerine Fingerboard, "REDCAR CENTRAL, REDCAR EAST AND SALTBURN ONLY". The board was used at Middlesborough station for the fast Darlington to Saltburn services. Painted wood with steel end fixings, overall 37"x8", a little wear from day to day use. £
- L.T. County Bus Stop Sign "LONDON TRANSPORT, CHORLEY WOOD COMMON", (f/f), black and green on white enamel, 18" square, with excellent colour and shine. The sign comes from the area just east of Chorley Wood station on the Metropolitan and Great Central Joint Line £
- Victorian Silver Vesta box, the front of which is decorated with an enamel railway ticket, "LSWR 1885, WATERLOO TO ASCOT (SPECIAL TRAIN) 15 Shillings, 1st Class No 2001", black on white with red cross on the return half, and vertical pale lilac bars (the ticket is of authentic style for an LSWR race special of the period). The side is engraved "XMAS 1886" and the base "GW-L from GF", the other side is marked with the maker's name "Macmicheal" and a hallmark, lovely condition other than tiny chips at corners. £
- Southern Railway "Electric Flash" pattern silver-plated Fruit Bowl, 6¾" diameter, 3½" high with prominent company markings on the side, a couple of knocks by the base, otherwise good. Also a Southern Railway Steamers six-slice toast rack, the frame a little out of true but with the company name and flag clearly displayed on a circular boss. (2) £
- Pair of LMS aluminium Signal Lever Description Plates, (a) "POINTS DOWN WORCESTER FROM UP GLOSTER", (b) "GLOSTER TO UP SLOW INNER HOME", each 4"x5" and originating from the Gloucester area. (2) £

- London and North Western Railway mounted Coat of Arms Transfer, with the company name in white scrollwork with blue shading, overall 12" square on a black background. £
- North Eastern Railway Platform Lamp Case with the station name "THORNTON DALE" displayed on a frosted glass panel with raised blue lettering. The station was on the Pickering to Seamer route, which closed on 5th June 1950. Overall 28" high with inverted saucer top and original tangerine/brown paintwork. £
- Diesel Locomotive Nameplate "DARING Warship Class", from the BR Type 4 diesel hydraulic D811 built at Swindon and allocated new to Laira in October 1959. It was withdrawn from Newton Abbot in January 1972, having been stored there since November 1968, and was sent to BREL Swindon for scrapping in October 1973. Although the name has been used on a number of Royal Navy vessels over the years, the locomotive is almost certainly named after the Daring Class destroyer launched in 1949 and broken up in 1971. Cast aluminium 31"x11¼", ex loco condition with original black paintwork. £
- BR(W) Totem "CAERPHILLY", chocolate and cream. Fair colour with loss of shine, flange rust repainted. £
- North Eastern Railway silver-plated Soup Tureen by Elkington & Co. The side displaying a belted garter with the wording "ROYAL HOTEL, WEST HARTLEPOOL", surrounding the company's initials, oval with decorative handles at each end and a ribbed base. Excellent condition, though without a lid, the lettering clearly readable but polished. £
- Shedplate "75B" (Redhill 1950 to May 1965). The front repainted long ago, the back undercoated and with the BR(S) Eastleigh triangle cast in. £
- Southern Railway enamel Target Sign "PLUMSTEAD", from the South Eastern Railway's London to Dartford route, situated just east of Woolwich Arsenal. Good colour though some loss of shine, the usual edge chips painted in. £
- Signal box Control Cabinet for the Wickford to Southminster branch, comprising track diagram, including each station's signals, loops and level crossings on a green background, with control buttons, grey steel case 38"x20" and 14" deep. Excellent condition. £
- Diesel Locomotive brass bogie Builder's Plate "BUILT 1962, BOGIE No 7000/55, BEYER PEACOCK, GORTON LTD", from a Class 35 "Hymek" diesel hydraulic. Cast brass oval, 4¼"x2½", cleaned but not repainted. £
- Single Line Key Token "CRIANLARICH UPPER - ARDLUI", (brass), from the North British Railway's West Highland line to Fort William. £
- Great Western Railway single line Level Crossing Instrument, displaying a red/white "flag" in a circular aperture "Up Train On line/Line Clear/Down Train On Line", on a green background. A small rectangular cased bell is mounted on the top of the instrument, overall 17½" high and in excellent condition. £
- Enamel Advertising Sign "NECTAR TEA", produced in the shape of a teacup, green and brown on white, 21"x12¼", good colour and shine though two edge chips top left and centre right and minor edge wear. £
- Midland Railway internal Numberplate from Derby Works "15", cast iron oval with a horizontal lip at the top centre with fixing hole as well as the normal bolt holes at each side, 21"x13½", the front repainted yellow on black. We have been unable to ascertain it precise use, whether from a locomotive crane or other equipment, it is though a large and substantial casting of an unusual pattern. £
- Worksplate "LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, 4717, BUILT DARLINGTON WORKS, 1927", from a LNER J39 Class 0-6-0 built in March 1927, LNER No 1270. It was renumbered 4717 in 1946, becoming BR 64717. A long-time Gorton engine, it was withdrawn from there in August 1960 and cut up at the nearby Works the following month. Brass oval, 9"x5", the front background repainted otherwise untouched, the class and loco number noted on the back. £
- London Brighton and South Coast Railway glass Name Panel "ISFIELD", from a platform lamp. The blue glass lettering slightly raised on a frosted background. 12"x3½", two vertical repairs and a corner chip top left. The station was situated between Uckfield and Barcombe Mills on the Lewes to Oxted route, it closed on 4th May 1969 along with the section south of Uckfield. £
- BR(M) Totem "SANDHILLS", maroon (h/f). Reasonable colour with fading in places, good shine and a few tiny chips neatly colour matched. £
- BR(NE) tangerine enamel Station Direction Sign "BRITISH RAILWAYS (totem) WEST JESMOND STATION", with arrow, (f/f), from the North Eastern Railway's Tyneside loop. Excellent colour and reasonable shine, a chip repair 1½"x2" above the left end of the arrow, minor edge chips. £
- Great Northern Railway three aspect Handlamp with brass plate "LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, YARD BOX GRANTHAM". The lamp is complete with its BR(E) slide in vessel, burner and reflector, blue and red glass, double piecrust top and copper lens cone, the body and top are both stamped "GNR", though with differing numbers. Good restored condition other than edge chips to the front lens. £
- Great Western Railway Oil Container, with a 3½" brass plate "STORES DEPT, NTH ROAD", overall 21" high, 11" diameter, "GWR" stamped on the top between the side handles, though no stopper. NTH ROAD refers to Plymouth North Road station. £
- Great Western Railway 1947 Block Instrument indicating "Line Clear / Normal / Train on Line", below a commutator with engraved backplate "Blocked Back / Normal / Train On Line 2,3,4,5". A trafolite plate at the top "WELLINGTON No 3 BOX" and at the base "UP PLATFORM LINE", the instrument is in good original condition and originates from the Wolverhampton to Shrewsbury main line. £
- Original watercolour painting of "LNER A2 Class 4-6-2, No 60157, GREAT EASTERN", by J.E.Wigston. Framed with a maroon mount, overall 13"x10½", the image 8½"x6¼". £
- Great Western Railway silver-plated one pint Tea Pot displaying the "GWR HOTELS" roundel device on the side, produced by Joseph Rogers and Sons Sheffield. Fine useable condition with clear company markings. £
- Great Western Railway cast iron Cabside Numberplate "5787", from a 5700 Class 0-6-0PT built at Swindon in August 1930 and allocated new to Severn Tunnel Junction. It was at Aberdare by the end of its GWR days and later moved to Duffryn Yard from where it was withdrawn in October 1963. It was then stored at Swindon Works for nearly a year before being cut up there in September 1964. The numberplate has been repainted. £
- Great Western Railway cast iron Notice "FIRE ENGINE ROUTE, KEEP CLEAR", from Swindon Works, original black on red paintwork 23½"x15½". £
- Great Western Railway pre-grouping cast iron Doorplate "INSPECTOR", completely unrestored with some traces of original paintwork. £
- Tyers No 6 Single Line Tablet, "BURES - SUDBURY", (alloy), from the Great Eastern Railway's Marks Tey to Sudbury branch, which once extended to Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge. The tablet is complete with its original leather pouch. £
- BR(S) quad royal Poster "LONDON TOWN", (AD/6771/A2), a montage of views of the city, with coats of arms around the border and a royal procession at the base. Rolled and mounted on linen. £

- London Transport enamel Target Sign "MARYLEBONE", from the Bakerloo Line station serving the former Great Central Railway terminus, rectangular 28"x22", red, white and blue enamel, excellent but with chips at four of the eight fixing holes. £
- Single line Key Token, "RUFFORD JUNCTION - BLIDWORTH JUNCTION", (chromed steel with brass plates), from the LNER Blidworth Colliery branch, east of Mansfield which closed in 1989. £
- British Railways standard modular Block Instrument, with black and white body, comprising Up and Down Line indicators, commutator unit and a bell at the base. It is labelled "BAGULEY FOLD" and "Up East/Down East" and is from a box on the Cheshire Lines route between Stockport and Skelton Junction (near Altrincham). Excellent condition. £
- Southern Railway enamel Target Sign "ELTHAM PARK", from the South Eastern and Chatham Railway's Blackheath Junction to Slade Green route. Excellent colour and shine, a few small edge and two screw hole chips only. £
- BR(S) Totem "DUMPTON PARK", light green (f/f). Several edge chips into the green, mainly in the lower panel. £
- Diesel Locomotive Nameplate, "Stac Polliadh", from a BR Class 60 Co-Co diesel electric No 60078 built by Brush, Works No 980, in October 1991 and named when built. It was allocated new to Immingham the following month. The nameplates were removed at the Brush Works in January 1996. The engine takes its name from the mountain in the Western Highlands north of Ullapool. The front repainted, the back in original condition with plenty of oxidization. £
- North Eastern Railway leather Cash Bag with an engraved oval brass plate "N.E.R. MENTHORPE GATE", from the company's Selby to Driffield route. The station closed on 7th December 1953 as was the case with all the local stations which were closed by 1954, the line however remained open until 1965, used as a through route by coastal excursions and local freight traffic. £
- BR(NE) wooden Train Departure Board from Darlington Bank Top station "NORTHALLERTON - YORK - GRANTHAM - KINGS CROSS", tangerine with black edged lettering 32½"x11½" with steel ends and hanging hooks. The paintwork touched up on one side, the other fine. £
- Taff Vale Railway mounted Coat of Arms Transfer, featuring a large blue belted garter bearing the company name and "1836" with a central red dragon and shield and surmounted by a Welsh mountain goat. Overall 14¾"x17" on a black background. £
- N.E.R three aspect Handlamp with an embossed rectangular brass plate "NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY COMPANY" on the side. The lamp is complete with its slide in vessel "LNE-D2", screw in burner and reflector, red, white, blue glasses in square apertures, copper bezel and piecrust top. The brass and copper polished and probably repainted long ago. £
- Worksplate "LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, 5281, COWLAIRS WORKS, 1896", from a North British Railway Class C, LNER Class J36, 0-6-0 built at Cowlairs in 1896, NBR No 710/LNER No 9710. It was renumbered 5281 in 1946, becoming BR 65281. A long-time Dunfermline loco, it finished its days at Bathgate from where it was withdrawn in July 1961 to be cut up at Inverurie Works the following month. Cast iron oval, 9"x5", with brass renumbering strip, the front cleaned but not painted, the back untouched. £
- North Eastern Railway Platform Lamp Glass "BEMPTON", the name in raised blue lettering on a frosted background, 12½"x3". The station is situated between Bridlington and Filey on the company's Hull to Scarborough route. £
- Shedplate "56B" (Ardsley October 1956 to October 1965). Repainted long ago. £
- Group of Signal Lever Description Plates, (a) "DOWN G.W. HOME", (b) "DOWN G.W. DISTANT", ivorine over LMS alloy plates, (c) MR brass, "POINTS GOODS SHED & DOWN LINE", each 4"x5". The plates originate from the Gloucester area, the first two are possibly from Standish Junction. (3) £
- BR(Sc) Totem "CUPAR", light blue (h/f). Good colour with some loss of shine, rust on the black flange repainted. £
- "LMS HOTELS" black china Tobacco Jar, marked with the company's name in block motif on the lid. An unusual piece though the jar has been cracked and expertly repaired. £
- Diesel Locomotive Bogie Builder's Plate "BUILT 1960, BOGIE No 1000/113, CREWE WORKS", from a BR Class 52 "Western" diesel hydraulic. Although the first "Western" did not enter service until late 1961, it is presumed that some of the bogies were made in advance and dated accordingly. Cast brass oval 4"x2", a knock to the numbers on the first "0" of "1000", repainted. £
- Single Line Key Token "BUGLE - ROCHE", (alloy), from the Great Western Railway's Par to Newquay branch, originally part of the Cornwall Minerals Railway. This is one of the earlier keys used before the closure of many of the intermediate boxes. £
- Worksplate "ANDREW BARCLAY SONS & Co LIMITED, CALEDONIA WORKS No 811, 1897, KILMARNOCK", from a 0-4-0ST O/C which went new to A & J Stewart & Clydesdale Ltd at Clydesdale Steel & Tube Works, Mossend as "Clydesdale No 7". The Company later became part of Stewarts & Lloyds Ltd and the loco moved to England in 1935 where it worked at their Corby Iron & Steel Works, Northants. It was scrapped in March 1966. Cast brass oval, 16¾"x11¾", the front polished and repainted green, the back untouched, an uncommon pattern, the number and year appearing in a straight line rather than curved as is the usual layout. £
- Worksplate "AVONSIDE ENGINE Co, BRISTOL, 1492, 1905", from a 0-4-0ST O/C, Avonside Class B2, which went new to Metropolitan Cammell Ltd, Birmingham, their No 19. It remained there after rebuilding and was scrapped in August 1959 by J Oakley & Co of Luton. A large cast brass oval 14"x8", unrestored and with the star decoration each side of the word "Bristol". The plate is distorted vertically but could be straightened with care. Also a matching plate "THE AVONSIDE ENGINE Co LIMITED, REBUILT BY 1919, BRISTOL", cast brass oval 10"x6¼", unrestored with original paintwork, flaking around bolt holes. The plate out of true to a lesser extent, easily straightened. (2) £
- North Eastern Railway enamel signal box Nameboard "WILTON CARR", from the Pickering to Seamer line, which closed on 5th June 1950. The crossing was situated just west of Ebberston station (which was called Wilton until 1903). Cream lettering and border on reddish brown, excellent colour and shine, though chipping at screw holes, the top centre hole opened at the edge. £
- BR(NE) small time table Poster, "TRAIN SERVICE, SUNDERLAND, PITTINGTON, WELLFIELD AND WEST HARTLEPOOL", September 25th 1950 until further notice, blue on white with totem at top, framed, overall 13"x20¾". The route closed to passenger traffic in 1952. £
- BR(S) Totem "SHOLING", light green (f/f). Good colour and shine with one face chip and edge chips on the white flange. £
- LNER "Coronation" pattern silver-plated Grapefruit Dish with integral pip tray, produced by Walker and Hall. The company initials are displayed on the side in diagonal block capitals, the plating is in excellent condition, though the tray is slightly out of true. This pattern was produced in the 1930s for the "Coronation" and "Silver Jubilee", streamlined expresses. £
- Cast iron Notice "LANCASHIRE & YORKSHIRE RAILWAY, MECHANICALLY DRIVEN JIGGERS AND FRICTION CRANES - IN WORKING MECHANICALLY DRIVEN JIGGERS AND FRICTION CRANES, GREAT CARE MUST BE USED IN PUTTING THEM IN MOTION, SO AS TO PREVENT JERKING THE CHAINS OR ROPES AGAINST THE PILLARS OR JIBS", repainted white on red, 22½"x13¾", the back in original condition. £
- North Eastern Railway enamel Doorplate "BOOKING OFFICE AND WAITING ROOM", reddish brown lettering and border on cream, 20"x8", with angled corners, excellent colour and shine, some restoration to screw hole chips, the lettering unaffected. £
- Railway Signal Company, miniature Train Staff "CRESSING - BRAINTREE STN", from the Great Eastern Railway's Witham to Braintree branch, which once extended to Bishops Stortford, though closed to freight between 1966 and 1970 after which Braintree became the branch terminus. Tubular steel with rings, the inscription on a steel cap at the left end. £
- Diesel Worksplate "BRITISH RAILWAYS CREWE BUILT, 1959, POWER EQUIPMENT BY THE BRITISH THOMPSON HOUSTON Co LTD & SULZER", from a BR Class 24 Bo-Bo diesel electric. Those built at Crewe in 1959 were D5030-48/50-57/59, most of which survived to receive the equivalent numbers in the 240XX series in 1973-4. Cast aluminium rectangle, 13"x6½", cleaned and the front repainted green, though plenty of pitting and oxidization on the back. £
- Railway Executive (LMR) double royal Poster, "CHESTER, The Gateway To North Wales, Travel To England by The Short Sea Routes", by SR Badmin (LM5751), a picturesque 1950s scene of Upper Bridge Street with contemporary cars, a bus and brewers dray unloading barrels. A few edge nicks and a repair upper right, rolled. Stanley Roy Badmin (1906-1989) was also well known for his beautifully detailed carriage prints. £
- Smokebox Numberplate "55231", from a Caledonian Railway 439 or "Standard Passenger" Class 0-4-4T built at St Rollox in 1922, CR No 428, becoming LMS Class 2P 15231 and BR 55231. In BR days it was allocated to Dundee, Inverness, Ayr and finally Corkerhill from where it was withdrawn in June 1961. It was cut up two months later at BR Carriage & Wagon Works, Heatheryknowe, Glasgow. The front repainted, the back in original condition, a vertical BR weld repair between the figures "3" and "1". £
- Southern Railway Sykes brass cased Signalling Repeater "POINTS, Normal / Wrong / Reverse", black lettering and suspended needle on white, the word "Wrong" in red, excellent condition, the back of the case marked "SYX". £
- Depot Plaque "CREWE DIESEL DEPOT", featuring a leaping cat. Cast aluminium diamond 25" across, unrestored, the back showing plenty of oxidization and retaining three of the four fixing bolts. £
- Great Western Railway cast iron Tenderplate "GWR, 2825, 4000 GALLONS, SWINDON", from one of a batch of standard Collett tenders built at Swindon between April and July 1940 for use with Kings, Castles, Stars, Halls and Granges. 9⅜" x 6", with a neat weld repair to the left edge, the plate was undercoated long ago. £
- Great Central Railway mounted Transfer, featuring the company initials in gold script lettering, with orange shading, on a green background, overall 20"x10", minor imperfection to the transfer prior to mounting, not particularly noticeable when hung. £
- British Railways - Western Region, System Map from the Works Manager's office at Swindon, showing each division in a differing colour, Reading, Bristol, Exeter, Newport and Swansea, also bordering regions LT, BT Docks and private railways with enlargements of Bristol, Plymouth, Gloucester and London. The map is in a glazed oak frame overall 47½"x35½" and dated November 1981, yet in the style of the RCH maps produced over the previous century. It is unusual to find an example of this quality from the period; now a quarter of a century old, a number of the goods branches are but a memory. £
- Great Western Railway Jig-Saw Puzzle "LOST IN TRANSIT, DAMAGED THROUGH THOUGHTLESSNESS", this rare puzzle was given to staff in the goods department one Christmas in the 1930s as a public relations exercise to cut down on damage to parcels, it shows two children opening a present to find the contents, a model engine broken. The box bears the label "May You and Yours find entertainment at home in solving this jig saw puzzle, if the message goes home you will help to solve a big problem facing the company". The puzzle has thick card pieces and is complete, the patterned box 5¼"x4¾" is in good condition. £
- North Eastern Railway Pressure Gauge, the brass case engraved "NER MIDDLESBOROUGH DOCKS" in ornate script lettering with the company initials in a superb decorative monogram. 5" diameter with brass valves and handle below and a section of copper feed pipe. The face is prominently marked "D.E.D. AND H.P. 33" and with the maker's name "SCHAFFER & BUDDENBURG, BOURDENS PATENT" and registers 0 to 120 ppsi. A magnificent example mounted on a shaped wooden backboard. £
- Smokebox Numberplate "45573", from the LMS Jubilee Class 5XP/6P 4-6-0 No 5573 "Newfoundland" built by the North British Locomotive Co, Works No 24131, in 1934. A long-time Holbeck loco, it remained there for the whole of its BR days until withdrawal in August 1965. After five months in store at its home shed, it was cut up at Cashmores, Great Bridge in January 1966. Repainted long ago, over the original paintwork. £
- BR(M) Totem "GARSTON", maroon (f/f). Fair colour with some loss of shine and mottling. £
- Pair of Gauge One, Model Coaches by Beeson's, fine detail narrow gauge examples believed to be Ffestiniog Railway. They include opening window, couplings etc and are in maroon livery, overall length 22" and complete with wooden box for transportation. (2) £
- Small wooden Carriage Board "MAIDENHEAD/PADDINGTON", cream on green paintwork, 24"x3" with steel bands at the ends. £
- Single Line Key Token "TRURO - FALMOUTH", (alloy), from the Great Western Railway's Cornish branch, used after closure of the intermediate boxes. £
- LNER cast iron Seat Back Plate "MONIFEITH", from the North British Railway's Edinburgh to Aberdeen main line, between Dundee and Arbroath. 28" long, the front repainted white on blue, a weld repair between the F and the I. £
- Caledonian Railway signal box Nameboard "PARKLEE". We have been unable to ascertain the exact location of this signal box, although it was almost certainly situated in the Central Lowland area of Scotland. Cast letters on wood with beading, 46"x10¾", with original black on white paintwork. £
- BR(M) brass seal, "ASHBY, LMR", from Ashby-de-la-Zouch station on the Midland Railway's Leicester to Burton on Trent route. The seal has a large 1⅜" diameter head and turned wooden handle, overall 4½" high. £
- Small London Transport Target Sign "BANK", red, blue, white enamel in its original aluminium surround. The sign appears to have been made without the white half moons and would have been fixed against a white background, overall 24"x18¾" and in excellent condition. £
- LNER silver-plated Tea Set, comprising of a small 3½" tea pot, a 4" water jug and a small 2" milk jug. All marked on the side with the company's script initials, each in good condition and produced by Walker and Hall. (3) £
- Great Western Railway Cabside Numberplate "6950", from the GWR 49xx Class 4-6-0 "Kingsthorpe Hall" built at Swindon in December 1942 and named in April 1947. It was allocated new to Worcester where it spent almost the whole of its working life before moving to South Wales in 1961, at Cardiff Canton and then Cardiff East Dock from where it was withdrawn in July 1964. After five months in store at East Dock, it was cut up at Cashmores, Newport the following December. The actual Hall was built in 1775 and is owned by Northampton Town Council but was badly damaged by fire in 2002. The front repainted, the back in original condition. £
- Great Western Railway post-grouping cast iron Doorplate "BOOKING OFFICE", 24" long in completely original condition with some old paintwork in evidence. £
- BR(NE) double royal Poster "KNARESBOROUGH, YORKSHIRE, See Britain By Train", (1953), by Jack Merriott (1901-1968), a striking view of the River Nidd dominated by the viaduct on the York to Harrogate line, pleasure boats in the foreground and the town beyond. Excellent condition, rolled with light folds. £
- Tyers No 6 Single Line Tablet "FORRES JUNCTION - DUNPHAIL", (brass/alloy), from the Highland Railway's "old" route to Inverness between Aviemore and Forres. Most of this eight mile section is at a continuous gradient of 1 in 75, on the long climb to Dava Summit. The line closed between Aviemore and Forres on 18th October 1965, but had lost its main line status with the opening of the new direct route to Inverness (via Schlod Summit) in 1898. £
- BR(S) Totem "MINSTER THANET", light green (f/f). Good colour and shine with a few edge chips touched in on the white flange. £
- Framed illuminated address, "To Mr G.E.Perry, to commemorate the occasion of your retirement from the London and South Western Railway, we, your colleagues and the Traders of Reading beg to ask your acceptance of this testimonial and wallet of Treasury notes as a mark of our esteem and appreciation of your unfailing courtesy and hope that you will be spared for many years to enjoy your well earned rest", below forty-nine companies are listed, including well known Reading names such as Palmers and Chivers. Overall 16"x22¾", multicoloured, framed and glazed. Perry was the company goods agent in the town. £
- Carriage Print "Leigh on Sea, Essex", from an oil painting by Charles King. £
- Original watercolour painting "RAILFREIGHT CLASS 58", by Peter Annable, an unusual subject for a painting which is well executed. Framed and glazed, 15½"x12½" with mount, the image 8"x4¾". £
- BR(E) Totem "SOHAM", dark blue (h/f). Good colour and shine with minor edge chips repainted white. £
- Enamel Advertising Sign "WILLS WOODBINE", white lettering with black shading on green, 60"x15", a few face and edge chips although excellent colour and shine. £
- Great Western and London and North Western Joint Railway cast iron Gate Notice, utilizing varying sizes and styles of lettering. 21"x14½", the front repainted. These signs were mainly used on the company's Shrewsbury to Hereford route and a few other sections of joint line. £
- London Transport enamel Target Sign "NORTH ACTON", from the Central Line station between Ealing Broadway and White City. Blue, white and red with black border, overall 30"x36", excellent colour and shine, with just a few chips at the screw holes. £
- Railway Signal Co Key Token "BRENT EAST - BRENT WEST". This short section was used on the spur close to Cricklewood Sheds and Yard on the Midland Railway's main line north of St Pancras. The key end has been removed. £
- LNER signal box Diagram "LNER, LUTON EAST, 1941", from the Great Northern Railway's Welwyn Garden City to Dunstable route. A coloured box copy including the station, various private sidings and the lines towards Dunstable and Hatfield. Unframed 71"x18", with some staining, displayed on a board with a perspex cover. £
- Great Western Railway Signal Box "Telegraph" plate showing a silhouette letter "T" on a diamond shaped steel plate 13" across. These plates where hung on the outside of the signal box in the 19th and early 20th century to alert the lineman that maintenance was required. Matching "S" plates were also used when maintenance to signalling equipment was required. The front is repainted red, the back cream, evidence of the original paintwork is visible on both sides. £
- Smokebox Numberplate, "73101", from a BR Standard Class 5MT 4-6-0 built at Doncaster in August 1955 for the Scottish Region and allocated new to Corkerhill where it remained for all its working life. It was withdrawn in August 1966 and cut up three months later at Motherwell Machinery & Scrap Co, Wishaw. The front repainted, though the edge cleaned off to reveal remains of blue/white border. £
- LMS silver-plated half pint Tankard, by Mappin and Webb, 3⅛" high with the company "LMS, HOTELS" motif on the side in a vertical rectangle, good usable condition. £
- Early Signal Spectacle Plate with the maker's details "B.P.R.S Co LTD LONDON & CHIPPENHAM" cast on the side of the unusually thick and heavy surround. We have never seen anything of this type, well worth a look. £
- Original watercolour painting of "LNER A4 Class 4-6-2, No 2512, SILVER FOX", by J.E.Wigston. A side view of the locomotive and first coach of The Silver Jubilee at speed, overall 25½"x8¾", framed with mount, the image 20½"x5". £
- BR(S) Totem "SITTINGBOURNE", dark green (f/f). Good colour and shine with minor rust at the back of the white flange. £
- GWR cast iron Notice "GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY, ALL PERSONS FOUND TRESPASSING ON THIS RAILWAY WILL BE PROSECUTED AS THE LAW DIRECTS". This example was removed from the line side at Pans Lane Halt on the Patney and Chirton to Holt Junction route. 23½"x12", the front repainted and its origin noted on the back. £
- BR(E) dark blue enamel Doorplate "STATION MASTER", (flangeless), excellent colour and shine, with just tiny chips in places at the very edge. £
- Midland Railway cast iron Signal Post Finial, square base with circular section above surmounted by a cruciform spike, original white paintwork, overall 28" high. £
- Shedplate "32B" (Ipswich 1949 to October 1959 for steam). Ex loco condition with original paintwork. £
- Small North Eastern Railway three aspect Handlamp with the company initials on top. The lamp has its original vessel "N.E.R. Co", reflector but lacks the burner, it has a copper bound top handle, copper bezel and lens cone, piecrust top and back handles. Excellent restored condition, the copper polished. £
- London Transport enamel Notice "PASSENGERS MUST NOT ATTEMPT TO ENTER OR LEAVE CARS BEYOND THIS POINT, NOR CROSS THE LINE EXCEPT BY THE BRIDGE OR SUBWAY PROVIDED - WARNING TO STAFF, DO NOT STEP ON ANY RAIL", white lettering and border on red, the LT emblem at either side. The sign is contained in its original wooden frame, overall 27½"x37½", and is in good condition other than chips at the edge around six holes used to fix a modern version over the sign. £
- GWR cast iron signal box Door Notice "GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY, NOTICE, NO UNAUTHORIZED PERSONS ALLOWED IN THIS BOX, BY ORDER". The front repainted, the back with old brown paintwork, 11"x8½". £
